An Update

I know to all my followers out there (because I have so many!) it is no surprise that I haven't being doing much with this blog. I wish I had done more, but I promise you, I will try to update this blog as much as possible. The veggies are coming in! A month ago, I planted three heirloom tomato plants, two roma tomato plants, three self-blanching cabbage plants, two green bean plants, and four parsnip plants. I would also like to begin blogging about the healthy lifestyle I'm beginning. Since my father's diagnosis of diabetes, my family has gone through some changes. We've always lived healthier than the average American, but now we're really living low-carb. So with that, I'm signing off for now. Hope to blog soon! Adieu!

A New Beginning– Peas, Peppers, & Onions

I need to make a declaration before I begin. First, I am not a hippie... well, I am, but I guess you could call me a neo-hippie. I'm not radical. I don't burn bras (what?! who would dare think of that idea? We don't need any more carbon dioxide!), I hate when people say, "Let's sing Kumbaya!", and I don't think it is right to plan businesses for all the environmental issues. Water bottles are bad because of the plastic. I could care less where the water comes from. I do love nature, but not particularly beaches. Forests are comfortable or gardens. Second, I am not here to patronize anyone reading this blog. In fact, I encourage a diverse audience. I enjoy others opinions that are not the same as mine. I may be wrong (usually), and it's always interesting to here what others have to say on the issue. Third, I'm not here to change anyone. I not here to make myself look better or more "environmentally friendly". So with this off my chest, I'll explain what I'm doing and the purpose of this blog. I am writing because I have in past years rented a bed in my local community garden, but as of this year, all the beds were taken. Nonetheless, I am ecstatic about my new goal. I thought how simple it must be to make a raised bed and organically garden all my fruits and veggies. I mean, I drove to the community garden and watered it every so often, and voila! An abundence of veggies and herbs! So I asked my self how hard was it to replicate that idea in my own home. I will be posting a list of my plants soon and updating you on my progress throughout the year. The harvest season usually ends about the beginning of November, so that is probably when my last post will be. Keep you posted! (I'll also post lots of pictures!)
